A blog is born to Micro Business College! And when it became my job to name this newborn blog baby, I didn’t have to think twice: its name should be ‘Zero Capital!’ For your baby, you give a name that speaks in volumes about your aspirations and hopes, your affection and love for him or her. Here, my selection was not much different.
Zero Capital has been my motivating mantra since I took my first degree in Accounting from Addis Ababa University pretty long ago. I have been keeping this among my mind’s treasure troves. Even as the University of Connecticut wide opened for me whimsical world of knowledge in Management Performance Audit, ‘Zero Capital’ ideology sustained.
The other day I was just glancing at an old issue of ‘Entrepreneur’ where my idea was published prominently. The 12 year old newspaper has changed its natural colour. But still, what I deliberated in the article on ‘zero capital’ shines with added brightness in my mind. My darling idea hasn’t lost its sheen, but turns brighter and brighter. Its radiance continue to fuel my business strategies.
The humble beginning of Ambo Micro Business College, Ethio-Limat Consultancy PLC and growth of the college into three branches – I could not have achieved this simply with money!
Money is only one aspect needed for the growth of a firm. Mind it my dear ones, fiscal capital is never cardinal. Important are the qualities of entrepreneurship – creativity, astuteness, agility, hard work and so on. All these are not taken from ones money chest; but from the mind, brain and intelligence. So I would proclaim with boldness that before stepping on to the floors of business, students of all trades should become first a human being of abilities.
Next time when you feel you are financially impoverished, try to become richest in human calibres. Don’t give up until success is yours. Always hone the sword - your human potentials – knowledge, diligence and creativity. If you have ample of these qualities to invest, forget about the money – it will come to you as iron to a piece of magnet! And the business battlegrounds would surrender in front of you. And you will enjoy that way of turning into a hero, I'm sure.
Dear friends, we have much to discuss on such sort of matters. Hope this blog would be a good vehicle for realizing such nice conversation between us! See u soon!!
Yours,
Abera Tilahun
